World Circular Economy Forum 2024


On 17 April 2024, the coordinator of the RESPECT project, Justo Garcia (Orano Mining), will contribute to the World Circular Economy Forum. Justo Garcia is going to speak at the "Challenges and opportunities of the European Circular Economy Battery Industry" session.

The session will provide an in-depth exploration of the latest European advancements in circular battery technology. It will delve into the regulatory landscape, spotlighting key objectives and targets for circularity and recycling. Through the presentation of three concrete business cases from European pioneer companies working on recycling, reuse and digital product passports, it aims to illuminate success stories, while also offering a reality check on the practical application of the set objectives.

The session will be followed by a panel discussion, where the speakers and audience will explore some of the most imminent dilemmas and discuss key challenges in terms of technological developments, environmental and social aspects, policy coherence, trade concerns and financial viability of circular battery business models throughout the battery value chain.

The annual World Circular Economy Forum (WCEF) presents the world’s leading circular economy solutions with business leaders, policymakers and experts participating from around the world. Circular economy approaches can help businesses seize new opportunities and gain a competitive advantage, as well as contribute to achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. WCEF is a global initiative of Finland and Sitra, the Finnish Innovation Fund. The forum has been held since 2017, growing bigger and more powerful each year.
